Do You Feed Your Brain as Often as your Belly?" 7-1-11

"A strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug."~ Patricia Neal

There are drugs for everything and anything out there. After recent back surgery I am discovering this sad fact. However, this quote resonated with me today. It makes me ask myself-what if this is as good as my back is going to get? Then what do I take? Obviously the answer is nothing. Once something is set and cannot be changed we can ONLY change our attitude towards it to mitigate its detrimental affects. We may take pain medicine or anti-inflammatory's to mask the pain but the source is still there. In some cases the drugs are worse than the ailment. Repeat that. In some cases the drugs are WORSE than the ailment. Unintended side effects, dependence and false hopes all can lead us towards disappointment. As in life, sometimes the cure is worse than the infliction. But you know what "drug" we have access to 24 hours a day? Our minds! And in our minds we can create a strong powerful person ( a functioning wonder-drug) by what we read, think and meditate on. Have you ever put someone in a good mood because of the person you are and they were just having a bad day? Congrats they "took" you-a wonder drug!

You know, some people will spend 10-20 bucks on some really crappy take-out (too tired to cook-we all have those days). For the same cost though, we could also buy a book that will change our thinking or improve our world we go, but we say, that's too much money!  Don't be that person. Find a book that will challenge you mentally or improve you in someway and even fill a gap in your knowledge base instead of buying the same take-out (or at least find better eateries!). It will nourish MUCH longer than the meal and pay for itself in the long run many times over! And, as todays quote states, work some miracles in your life by your own doing!

Have a great day and an even better weekend!

As always contact info is below, I welcome your thoughts on the quote and they don't always have to be private so feel free to respond to me directly in any fashion!
