"Don't give up. Don't ever give up." Jim Valvano 7-15-11

"Don't give up. Don't ever give up." Jim Valvano

It would be folly on my part to attempt to give you anything extra on this quote except to build up the interest to watch the 10 minute video that gave birth to this quote. Jim Valvano was a basketball coaching legend who died way too early because of cancer (as so often is the case with cancer). He knew it was going to take his life, it was too far along to stop it.

However, cancer may have taken his life but NOTHING ever killed him. Why do I say nothing, because of forums like this and YouTube, millions can relive one of the most encouraging, motivating and HONEST speeches ever. He lives forever in these and what he says is a refreshing now as it was in 1993. Many of us may not have recognized the significance of this speech then. Perhaps we were younger or less aware of our own mortality. However it is something I now watch annually and tearfully and you should too.

Since he KNEW his time was limited he wanted to spend whatever time he had left helping others. If you knew how much time you had left would you change how you live? Would you live differently? Would you love more passionately? Would you laugh more often or even cry more regularly? There is SO much to say about this video but i will stop with this:

I urgently ask you to watch this and ask YOURSELF if your problems are still as big as they seem? I know some of you are FIGHTING some REAL tough battles and if that is the case then you should draw encouragement from the video. For those of us whose battles are not that insurmountable, let this remind us of what we can do rather than what we think we cannot.

Whatever the case is Don't give up, Don't ever give up. "Jimmy V" died just 8 weeks after he gave this speech but he lives forever in my heart and in my mind. May he live in yours too
