All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward: Ellen Glasgow

All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward: Ellen Glasgow

We tend to resist change unless we seek it out. When we do seek it out its because we are told that change is good and that we need to get OUT of our comfort zone via change to make any progress at all. I believe in this a lot but it MUST be tempered with the above thought. When we make changes they must be calculated and for the better. Even when the impetus of the change is not our doing (I.E. a layoff, accident etc) we can still do MUCH to control the outcome of the change. In all cases we have control over what we think and feel and when our mind is clear we can think rationally. So when you have this sometimes brief moments of clarity, analyze the changes you are making. Ask yourself: Are they getting me closer to my goal. Is this going to have a positive impact on my life? Will this eliminate a negative aspect i deal with? If you have trouble even answering these questions or not having those moments of clarity then maybe what you need to change is your ability to reason in matters? The world does not revolve around each of us. We just like to think it does. So, slow down and learn to really investigate what goes on in your life and more importantly, where its taking you!

Keep checking. Make sure you ARE moving forward and not just moving.
